This is the 4th Assault training ride and is
from North Greenville University again.

John Bryan puts together another great event.

John was one of the first South Carolinians to ride
Paris-Brest-Paris.

George Myers seems to be as strong as ever.

The rider below was wearing heavy shoes, running shorts, T-shirt, older
type mesh gloves, a mountain bike helmet and big socks.

His bike was heavy and he carried only one bottle of water.

He was a former international racer, I'm sure, just dressed up modestly
to humble the rest of us.

He beat me up Howards Gap and came close to finishing the ride before
me.

176- Down Saluda Grade

I didn't get pictures on Howards Gap because
it was too hard.

The White Oak climb was very hard but not as bad as Howards Gap. Maybe.

The views from the top of White Oak are pretty.

Our "turn-around" point.

This Spartanburg Freewheeler soon drops me.

Just before I rejoin the Spartanburg Freewheeler, a pack passes me.

The Freewheeler join the pack and they all
drop me here.

Climbing up from the Green River my chain goes into the inside of the
sprockets.

It's wedged and even with the removal of the wheel it takes great effort
and time to repair.

The riders from Charleston, Ned, Tim, and
Juan pass and offer help.

Ned, Tim, and Juan took a break but caught back in Saluda when my chain
became wedged again.

Gear adjustment is needed. Probably changed wheels without readjusting
the derailleur..

Jane catches up in Saluda and we boogie on back to North Greenville
College.

The pre-ride meal again would be Thai.
My long friend Adam is again our host.
